How We Tested
Chassis lettering had to be right before I scored HDMI count. Nano docks had tosupply HDMI and USB-A— the chassis does not. Carbon / Yoga “use the deck HDMI” was wrong. Docks had to sit in a Thunderbolt 4 jack and talk65W USB-C— 45W special-bid was thin.USB-C Port Replicator as a Thunderbolt desk,TBT4-UDZ quad-4K,40AY USB-C,Mokin 9-in-1,TS5 as 80 Gb/s,100W as a requirement, andCarbon slug silently covering Nanodid not qualify. Plugable TBT4-UD5 Thunderbolt 4 DockView on Amazon
| Host | Either Thunderbolt 4. Those two jacks are the entire I/O |
|---|---|
| Power to laptop | Up to 96W. generous vs 65W. One-cable 65W class is honest |
| Displays | Dual HDMI — Nano has no chassis HDMI. UDZ four native 4K is marketing |

TBT4-UD5 is a current Thunderbolt 4 dock with two HDMI, USB-A, and 2.5GbE. On X1 Nano that is the HDMI and USB-A the chassis refused to print. Carbon Gen 12 / 13 copy said chassis HDMI 2.1 is enough. Nano does not have that jack. 96W is generous versus 65W. About $180.
Do not buy UD5 because X1 Yoga copy said TBT4-UDZ is the gold standard. UDZ is SKU. Dual native 4K 60 is the honest Thunderbolt 4 ceiling on a two-pipe Nano.
- Gives Nano HDMI the chassis omitted
- Gives Nano USB-A the chassis omitted
- 96W generous vs 65W
- Not Lenovo dock-button IT silicon
- Not four native 4K
CalDigit TS4View on Amazon

TS4 is the 18-port Thunderbolt 4 desk. On Nano it is correct because the chassis is empty. PSREF still lists a USB-C Port Replicator — that is thin as a dual-4K desk. About $330.
- USB-A Nano does not have
- 98W generous vs 65W
- More money than UD5 for the same 40 Gb/s
- Not 80 Gb/s — TS5 is money
Anker 565 USB-C Hub (11-in-1)View on Amazon

| Skip if | You wanted two HDMI from one cable. UD5 |
Anker 565 is the current bag hub. On Nano it is critical HDMI, not optional like Carbon. Sit 65W in the hub or in the other Thunderbolt 4 — two-C desk is honest because both jacks are TB4. About $60.
- HDMI Nano does not have
- USB-A Nano does not have
- Current 565, not Mokin
- One HDMI, USB-C speeds
- Not a dual-4K Thunderbolt desk
65W brick in one TB4 plus 565 in the otherView on Amazon

| Displays | One HDMI from 565. Dual HDMI still wants UD5 |
| Instead of | Not Carbon chassis-HDMI. Not Port Replicator |
| Skip if | You wanted one cable. UD5 |
Nano’s only honest two-cable desk is 65W in one Thunderbolt 4 and a hub in the other. There is no HDMI to “keep using.” Carbon / Yoga copy fails here.
- 65W stays honest
- 565 supplies omitted HDMI / USB-A
- Two cables, not one-cable
- One HDMI, not dual 4K

Frequently Asked Questions
Does X1 Nano have HDMI?
No. Gen 3 is two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack. Carbon / Yoga “use chassis HDMI” is wrong. Buy UD5 or 565 for HDMI.
Is Lenovo USB-C Port Replicator enough?
thin. PSREF still lists it. It is not a Thunderbolt 4 dual-HDMI desk. UD5 is the current cart.
Can Nano drive four 4K monitors?
UDZ copy said yes. PSREF prints two externals via Thunderbolt, up to 5K 60 class. Dual 4K 60 is the honest ceiling. Quad native 4K is marketing.
Is this the same dock as X1 Carbon Gen 12 / 13?
Same watt class: Thunderbolt 4, 65W. Different omitted jacks. Carbon already has HDMI 2.1 and USB-A. Nano does not. Do not silently rewrite it.
Should I buy Thunderbolt 5?
No. The host is Thunderbolt 4. TBT-UDT3 and TS5 Plus downclock and cost 80 Gb/s money.
